Cam Newton Signing Back with the Carolina Panthers

QB Cam Newton agrees to terms on contract, returning to the Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers and Cam Newton come to an agreement to resign the former MVP Panthers quarterback. The Carolina Panthers selected Cam Newton #1 overall in the 2011 NFL Draft, this is where he spent majority of his career after being released in 2019. Now that Cam is back home, will we see a better Panthers team bringing the old quarterback veteran back “home” or will we see where the Panthers and Cam in the same place where they left off.

After the Panthers (3-0) start to the 2021-22 NFL season, the Panthers haven’t been quite the same as their record now stand as (4-5) finding themselves at the bottom of their division. Yes, it has been a hard fought season for the Panthers dealing with injuries throughout their roster, while considering impactful injuries like with star running back Christian McCaffrey. Without their star running back, the Panthers haven’t been able to get their offense running.

Much of the offenses difficulties for the Panthers has been at the quarterback position with current starter Sam Darnold where he threw 3 interceptions in the loss to the New England Patriots this past weekend. Although for this weekend Sam Darnold will be out with a shoulder injury, and PJ Tucker will get his first start of the season with the Panthers. Which leads us to the possible reason as to why the Panthers signed Cam Newton.

Resigning Cam Newton is hopefully a big move for the Carolina Panthers because if anyone can revive their season it would be Cam Newton because of the legacy he has in Carolina. The former 2015 NFL MVP holds the most passing yards in franchise history with 29,041, the most passing touchdowns with 182, and with 58 rushing touchdowns all after 9 season with Carolina. To get this team back on the right direction they need the right man to get it done for them, and right now they have the best player to do so.
